Electro Dermal Screening: Modern Technology Meets Ancient Wisdom

Synthia Suzelis has been a Natural Health Practitioner for over 25 years. In her own words she describes what led her to the vocation.
"I was divinely led to this vocation, as many are, through need and prayer. My husband Ted and I have 5 children. Our 3rd son Blake was born with life threatening birth defects. The medical prognosis was that with surgery and medication he would lead a sickly and short life. I prayed that God would lead us to an answer because I didn't feel in my gut that this was Blake's karma. I was led to a group of alternative practitioners who were able to tell me things about his condition that I could do something about. He began to respond the first day! I thought that his medical doctors would be thrilled, but they were not. I was told to keep Blake away from those 'quacks.' But I wasn't going to stop doing something that seemed to be helping. I also wanted to learn more so that I didn't endanger our son."

There was a small school for natural healing called Hanna Hills School of Natural Healing. It was there that Syndie learned the art of Naturopathic Medicine. After attending and interning at the clinic, she graduated. Shortly afterward, the school fell apart before it became accredited. However, Blake is now married, has 5 children and leads a healthy life! Syndie continued her education in the Natural Health field and now owns Healthy Treasures Inc. a health food store and healthy lifestyle boutique, as well as Health Advocate Services.

We were designed to be self-healing. We have an internal program that is constantly running to keep balance or homeostasis such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate...etc. When that system can no longer accomplish it's goal, symptoms begin to appear telling us where things are in need of balancing. Electro Dermal Screening can help to pinpoint the imbalance and tell us how to correct it. When we cut ourselves, we don't have to worry about sending the white blood cells to fight infection. We don't have to call upon the cells amazing system that runs all of the time. But if the cut is too deep or not clotting properly we may need to assist with stitches or Vitamin K for clotting. This is how the EDS system works. It's goal is to retain balance and homeostasis in the body.

"I believe that it (EDS) can and should be used to help recognize a patient's organ dysfunction even before physiological symptoms manifest themselves.  It can identify pathogens and toxins that are making the patient sick, and ascertain what medicines, supplements and other remedies are helpful or harmful to the patient. It does all of this quickly, inexpensively and non-invasively." Burton Goldberg, researcher and editor of Alternative Medicine Magazine.

Symptoms are not the disease. Symptoms are an expression of the body needing help to regain balance. Symptoms shouldn't be viewed as always needing suppression. EDS helps to find the underlying causes and then assists in helping the body heal itself through regulation of diet, supplements, or Homeopathic Medicine. EDS electronically measures the biological energies used in acupuncture.

Burton Goldberg boldly states, "Anyone who is taking supplements, especially individuals with health problems, should have their vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc. tested to make sure that they are actually necessary and doing the body good." EDS measures the body's ability to conduct this energy. If the product is inferior or old or incompatible you may be wasting your money at the very least. When energy flow is imbalanced, the body can be stimulated by selected electro-magnetic (EM) fields to change the conductance until a specific EM field produces the balanced conductance. For example, the Orion System that Synthia uses has a database of nonionizing, nonthermal, low energy frequency specific EM fields that can be selected and output by the operator. Thus it can identify positive and negative influences on the body by sending specific EM signals (pathogen or natural remedy EM's.)

In the application of EM fields to the body, the National Institute of Health (NIH) of the United States has stated that:
"The current status of basic research in BEM may be summarized as follows:
It is established that nonionizing, nonthermal EM fields exert measurable bioeffects in living organisms. In general, the organism's response to applied EM fields is highly frequency specific and the dos-response curve is nonlinear. Extremely weak EM fields, at the proper frequency and site of application, can produce large effects, either beneficial or harmful. (Rubik and Flower, 1994) Thus, the biofeedback technology must be operated by a trained individual to produce the benefits. And the trained individual can become an expert in regulating and balancing the body's EM field for optimal health.

"Our family of 5 adult children, 3 daughter-in-laws and 8 grandchildren are all very health conscious. Our eldest son Dr. Ted Suzelis N.D., is a Naturopathic Physician who graduated from an accredited 4 year medical school, the Southwestern School of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe,AZ. He now has two offices. One is in Newton Falls,OH at Health Advocate Services and one is in Boardman,OH. Our second eldest, Dr. Ian Suzelis D.O. is "bridging the gap" between Holistic Medicine and Traditional Medicine. He has an office in Alliance,OH and one in Middlefield,OH. Blake is managing the family health food store, Healthy Treasures Inc., and is going to school for his master's in Christian Counseling. Ashley, the only girl in the bunch, is continuing her education with Bach Flower Remedies and Esthiology. Garrett, the youngest child, graduated from Naropa University in Boulder,CO with a degree in Music Therapy. The whole family it seems has been inspired by the lifestyle enough to engage their careers as advocates of health and wellness." Synthia Suzelis, Health Advocate.

The Toxic Danger of Fabric Softener & Dryer Sheets

Although they may make your clothes feel soft and smell fresh, fabric softener and dryer sheets are some of the most toxic products around. Chances are that the staggering 99.8% of Americans who use common commercial detergents, fabric softeners, bleaches, and stain removers would think twice if they knew they contained chemicals that could cause cancer and even brain damage!

Here is a list of just some of the chemicals found in fabric softeners and dryer sheets:

Benzyl acetate: Linked to pancreatic cancer
Benzyl alcohol: Upper respiratory tract irritant
Ethanol: On the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Hazardous Waste list and can cause central nervous systems disorders
Limonene: Known carcinogen
A-Terpineol: Can cause respiratory problems including fatal edema, and central nervous system damage
Ethyl Acetate: A narcotic on the EPA's Hazardous Waste list
Camphor: Causes central nervous system disorders
Chloroform: Neurotoxic, anesthetic and carcinogenic
Linalool: A narcotic that causes central nervous system disorders
Pentane: A chemical known to be harmful if inhaled

So how could products with pretty name like Soft Ocean Mist, Summer Orchard and April Fresh be so dangerous?

The chemicals in fabric softeners are pungent and strong smelling--so strong that they require the use of these heavy fragrances (think 50 times as much fragrance) just to cover up the smells. Furthermore, synthetic fabrics, which are the reason fabric softeners were created in the first place, do not smell good either when heated in a dryer or heated by our bodies...hence the need for even more hefty fragrances.

In other words, remove all the added fragrance that endears people to fabric softeners and--like the cliche wolf in sheep's clothing--the real smells of the chemical-laced fabric softener and the synthetic fabrics they were designed around may prompt people to shoot their laundry machines and be done with it!

Are "Soft" Clothes Worth It?

Fabric softeners are made to stay in your clothing for long periods of time. As such, chemicals are slowly released either into the air for you to inhale or onto your skin for you to absorb. Dryer sheets are particularly noxious because they are heated in the dryer and the chemicals are released through dryer vents and out into the environment. Health effects from being exposed to the chemicals in fabric softeners include:

Central nervous system disorders
Muscle spasms
Headaches
Nausea
Vomiting
Dizziness
Blood Pressure reduction
Irritation to skin, mucus membranes, and respiratory tract
Pancreatic cancer

So What Can We DO!

Clothes that have been line dried usually have a fresh smell. Softening can be accomplished with vinegar or baking soda added to the final rinse. For a healthy fragrance try adding 'certified organic' essential oils such as lemon, lavender, or peppermint!
Remember! You may not notice a problem but there is a growing number of family, friends, and acquaintances who it can be near fatal.

Your Path to Wellness

Health Advocate Services is designed to meet the needs of people who are searching for the path to wellness and good health. We provide access to natural health information and services in the field of Natural Medicine with include:

Electro-Dermal Screening--
Every Function in the body depends on the correct energy. All disease initially begins as a functional disturbance that only becomes a clinical disease over time. EDS is a non-invasive, computerized procedure which allows the use of the acupuncture points and meridians to access information in the body, to determine the state of energy of all of the organs, glands and systems in the body. It then helps a qualified practitioner to develop a program to balance the energy, thus returning the body to homeostasis.
It was first developed 50 years ago in Germany. EDS has been continually improved and refined, and is in use by more than 100,000 practitioners around the world. Dr. Ted Suzelis, ND utilizes this within his Naturopathic Practice and as a Natural Health Practitioner. Synthia Suzelis, Health Advocate, has been using this with success for more than 20 years.

Reflexology--
A science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs, and parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes properly can help many health problems by improving nerve and blood supply.

Craniosacral--
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that stimulates the body's natural healing process. It can alleviate the negative effects of stress, decrease pain, strengthen resistance to disease and enhance overall health. It can be beneficial in treating a wide range of medical conditions including headache, migraine, neck and back pain, anxiety, depression and fibromyalgia. It can also be effective in treating pediatric problems such as colic, ear infections and nursing difficulties.

Thermal Imaging--
An FDA approved, non-invasive, radiation-free, non-contact clinical imaging procedure for detecting and monitoring a number of diseases and physical injuries, by showing the thermal abnormalities present in the body, which improves diagnostic accuracy.

Salivary Hormone Testing--
A non-invasive method of testing hormone levels using saliva instead of blood samples.
